Tom Elmore Books

Historian Tom Elmore grew up in Columbia, S.C. where he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in History and Political Science. 

Elmore is the author of four books:

  • Columbia’s Civil War Landmarks (2011. The History Press, Charleston, S.C.)
  • A Carnival of Destruction-Sherman’s Invasion of South Carolina (2012. Jogglingboard Press, Charleston, S.C.)
  • The Scandalous Lives of Carolina Belles Marie Boozer and Amelia Feaster: Flirting with the Enemy (2014 The History Press, Charleston, S.C.)
  • Potter’s Raid Through South Carolina (2015 The History Press, Charleston, S.C.)

A fifth book Celtic Columbia is due out in 2023

He has also written numerous articles that have appeared in regional and national publications and has been a book reviewer for two national magazines. In addition, Elmore has lectured all across the Mid-Atlantic States. 

Elmore is the current South Carolina State Historian for the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He lives in Columbia with his wife Krys and their Chihuahua Sassy.

Literacy SC is an education nonprofit in Central South Carolina founded in 1968. Our free reading programs and low-cost group workshops are held at our Columbia Office and over 26 public partner locations in Richland, Lexington, Aiken and Saluda Counties.
